Where to source products for Mercado Libre
After the first listing comes the next question. What to sell and where to get it.
There are several sources. But the choice of source matters less than how you present the product.
The local market, the fastest start
In Buenos Aires the whole wholesale trade sits in the Once district. I filmed what it looks like. You will find importers, resellers, local brands and Chinese suppliers there. Once on the map.
Why it is good to begin with. You collect the goods the same day, no waiting for a shipment, and you test the niche within a week.
Three tricks that work there.
- Look at the packaging. The importer is often printed on it, and then you go to them directly.
- Google “[product] importador Argentina”.
- Ask in the shop, “precio mayorista?” There is almost always a wholesale price, they just do not show it.
China, Amazon, AliExpress
People work this way too. Find a product, order it, resell it higher.
The money here is made by presentation. Take an ordinary product, underwear, accessories or gadgets. Then decent photos, a clear description, tidy packaging. And you sell higher than the seller next to you with the very same product.
The buyer is not choosing a product. They are choosing the listing that looks more expensive.
Paraguay
Ciudad del Este sits on the border and works as a large trading hub. Prices for phones, laptops and appliances are often lower there than in Argentina.
There are three ways to bring goods from there: through buyers, through carriers, or trips of your own.
Careful. Far from everything is worth it, grey-market goods are right there beside it, and quality has to be checked by hand.
Russia and other countries
You can ship by air, by sea or through intermediaries. It works if you already have your own supplier.
Your own production
The hardest route and the highest margin. People get there after selling their first thousand units of someone else’s product.
The product checklist
- There is demand. Look at how much competitors in this category sell.
- The margin after every cost is above 30%.
- Weight and size do not eat the profit on shipping.
- Certification is simple or not required at all.
- Seasonality is weak.
The main point
Do not chase a product nobody else has. Take what already sells and do it better than the competition. Photos, packaging, description, offer. That is enough to raise the price.

⭐ Next, straight to the factory. Once and local importers are convenient to start with, but you pay their markup. The next step is your own supplier in China. Where to look, how to tell a factory from a reseller, what to check before paying, what importing will cost. All of it is in the PRO pack along with a supplier directory, a 32-point checklist and a customs calculator.
