Mercado Libre country by country

It is one marketplace, but every country plays by its own rules: fees, free-shipping thresholds, tax regimes and customs differ several times over. Here is a breakdown of each of the six countries we work in, with verified 2026 figures.

Six countries in numbers

Three figures decide where to go: how many people there are, how much money they have, and how fast the marketplace itself is growing.

Population

Market size. More people means more demand — and more competition.

What this means

Brazil gives you volume, Uruguay gives you spending power, and Argentina gives you the fastest marketplace growth with the least competition from foreign sellers. Mexico is the second-largest market, but it grows more slowly than the rest and is the toughest of all on imports from China.

Across the region, Mercado Libre moved USD 19.0 billion in turnover and 721.7 million items sold in the quarter — up 42% and 47% year on year.

What it looks like in money

Mercado Libre reports three countries separately and lumps the rest into one line. Here is the marketplace's revenue for the first quarter of 2026 — its own income, not sellers' turnover.

Argentina brings the marketplace more profit than Brazil

On revenue three times smaller than Brazil's, Argentina delivers USD 607 M against 389 M of direct contribution. The reason is simple: logistics there are cheaper and customer acquisition costs less, because competition for the buyer is weaker. For a seller that is the same signal — a market where money comes easier.

Mexico, meanwhile, grows fastest in revenue — up 62% year on year, yet on profitability it trails Argentina by almost half.
