When the money arrives on Mercado Libre

I sell on Mercado Libre from Argentina, bring goods in from China and run my own warehouse in Buenos Aires. Everything written here has been tested on my own shipments, not retold from someone else’s guides.

Right after the sale

The buyer places the order and the amount shows up in Mercado Pago. In the balance it sits as a “dinero a liberar” line, money to be released. You see it immediately, you cannot spend it.

Where to look up the payout date

Mercado Pago → Movimientos → Consultar. It shows the payout date and the amount. Below that is a breakdown per sale. Commissions are already deducted, so this is exactly the money that will land in your account.

Timelines

A newcomer waits 20 days or more. Once you have built reputation, it drops to about 14.

Officially this is buyer protection and time for returns. It also means the platform uses your money for a month, and that is part of how it earns.

The shipping method changes the wait

With green reputation and the Full warehouse, money arrives in about 6 days. Through a Mercado Envíos pickup point it is around 8. With no reputation, or on second-hand goods, expect the full 14.

If you deliver yourself, through Flex or pickup, press “Entregué el producto” once it is delivered. The buyer confirms receipt, and then it is roughly 8 days to payout. Without that button the money hangs for almost a month.

If you need the money sooner

After a month or two of active selling, Mercado Pago unlocks early payout. It takes from about 1.5% of the amount, up to 3.33% at worst. In exchange the money comes a week sooner and goes back into stock.

This is normal

Every large platform works this way. Amazon and eBay hold money for roughly as long. Mercado Libre is no exception, just build that month into your working capital.
