How to use it
The free-shipping threshold: why the price jumps
Each country has its own threshold in local currency. Above it the buyer gets free shipping and you pay the whole rate. Below it the buyer covers part of the shipping and you are charged less.
That leads to a non-obvious move. Sometimes it pays to drop the price just below the threshold instead of keeping it just above. Nudge the price around the threshold and watch the «you keep» row.
On cheap goods in Mexico, Chile and Colombia there is also a fixed fee per unit sold. It is charged on top of the commission and only when the price is below the threshold.
How this differs from Mercado Libre's own calculator
- Their calculator shows zeros to a guest. The numbers appear only after you log into a Global Selling account. Here you can calculate right away.
- Categories come from their own catalogue, the same one.
- Free-shipping thresholds and price limits are visible right in the table, so it's clear why a figure changes.
- A «China or US» warehouse switch. In theirs the warehouse is tied to the account and cannot be changed.

Frequently asked questions
Where do Global Selling sellers ship from?
From two places: China and Hong Kong via Cainiao, and the US via MailAmericas. Which rate applies depends on the warehouse the seller's account is set up with.
How is shipping weight calculated?
They take the greater of two: the actual gross weight with packaging and the volumetric one. Volumetric is length × width × height ÷ 6000. Anything under 500 grams is charged by actual weight.
What is the free-shipping threshold?
Each country has its own threshold in local currency. If the listing price is above it, the buyer gets free shipping and the seller pays the whole rate. Below it the buyer covers part of the cost and the seller is charged less.
What is the minimum product price?
Argentina from 6 dollars, Uruguay from 30, the rest from 3, and the Full warehouse from 4. The ceiling varies: from 200 dollars for Uruguay when shipping from the US up to 3000 for Brazil, Chile and Argentina.
Are there weight and size limits?
Yes. From China a box side goes up to 120 centimetres, from the US up to 105. Both carriers' rate tables stop at 15 kilograms, and one order takes no more than five units.
How does the Full warehouse differ from direct shipping?
Full is Mercado Libre's in-country warehouse: the goods sit there in advance and reach the buyer within a day. It works only in Mexico and Chile. The rate depends on the listing price and the seller's reputation, and storage is billed separately from day one.
How much does Full storage cost?
You pay per unit per day, and the rate depends on box size. In Mexico it runs from 0.0006 dollars a day for a small box to 0.0276 for a large heavy one; in Chile from 0.001 to 0.02. After 120 days a monthly long-term storage fee is added, and the longer the goods sit the higher it gets: in Mexico up to 25 dollars per unit per month. The calculator adds both parts once you enter dimensions and the number of days. In Chile the fee is currently waived until further notice. Mercado Libre's own calculator tooltip says the fee starts after 60 days, while the article with the rates says 120. We follow the article, but keep in mind the bill may arrive earlier.
Does the commission differ by country?
Yes. In Brazil one rate covers every category; in the other five countries it depends on the product category and the listing type, Clásica or Premium.
Where the figures come from
Everything is taken from Mercado Libre's public materials and refreshed by scripts in the repository. The figures were captured on 2026-09-06; the platform changes rates regularly, and the exact numbers for your product are always in the seller panel.
- Category commissions come from the Selling Fee by Category showcase — 9,427 categories and 249 distinct rate sets.
- Shipping rates come from the Global Selling help articles, 11 routes. Six from China via Cainiao and five from the US via MailAmericas.
- The free-shipping thresholds, the per-unit fee, the price and parcel limits and the volumetric-weight formula come from the same place. The Uruguay minimum we take from the platform’s own calculator, 30 USD, even though the help pages still say 3 USD. On the Argentine minimum the sources disagree: the help pages and the calculator say 6 USD, the pricing page says 13 USD; we keep 6 USD, which has two sources out of three.
- The per-unit fee comes from the table Selling fees by country: 33 MXN, 9.6 BRL, 1,650 CLP, 7,200 COP for goods below their country’s threshold. At a Full warehouse it is charged by price band, so it comes out lower on cheap goods.
- The parcel limits come from the dimension articles for Cainiao and MailAmericas, rather than from the opening paragraph of the rate article: that says 30 kg, although the rates themselves end at 15 kg and the carrier will not take more.
- The intake non-compliance charges come from article #17600, where that table sits as an image. They cannot be worked out in advance: they depend on how the delivery goes.
- Full storage comes from the daily-rate articles for Mexico and Chile and the long-term storage fee article. Class dimensions are taken from the first two: in the long-term storage article «small» and «medium» are printed with the same size, which is the platform's own typo.
- The overage fee and the cost of removing a batch come from the articles on the overage fee and on long-term storage. They are not in the calculation: they depend on your capacity, not on the product.
- What you cannot ship, the platform lists in its list of goods prohibited from sale and import, 119 items across the six countries. What trips people up most: batteries and power banks, strong magnets, aerosols and liquids, used and refurbished goods, drones, candles, wooden articles and “mystery boxes”. Check before you buy: a batch like that simply will not be accepted at the warehouse.
- The page pulls exchange rates itself on load, from a free source with no key. If it doesn't respond, the build-date rate stays. In the «Exchange rates» section any rate can be corrected by hand, and your correction is never overwritten.
